The daughter of a tailor and a showroom model, fashion runs in Donna Karan's blood. She started designing for Anne Klein in the 1970s and launched her own brand in 1984. The designer achieved fame for her women's collections built around seven simple, interchangeable pieces, designed to take a woman from day into night.
