This book stemmed from the author's sense of the importance of the autobiography, and in response to attempts by some critics to keep the biography away from literary criticism, arguing that the literary work was separated from its creator, and emphasizing the importance of the text. However, this - in the author's opinion - has resulted in the literary work being merely a work of examination as well as a "vase" or ancient decoration in a museum. The author refuses to recognize this dehumanization of literature. Literature - first and foremost - is not one of the "voices of silence". It cannot be easily isolated - as some people imagine, the speaker or the audience. It is insufficient for the concept of the literary biography to be restricted to gathering information and documents, citing them, and preserving the chronology without entering the inner life of the writer.
