It has a soft 100% organic cotton cover and an inner heat bag that can be microwaved at 700 watts for 45 seconds. If more warmth is needed, it can be heated for another 15 seconds. A glass of water should only be placed in the microwave if heating the outer cloth. Always check the temperature before use to ensure safety. The cover is machine washable at 30degree celcius but should not be tumble dried, while the seed-filled inner bag is not washable and should be stored in a cool, dry place. I used it for my baby from the age of one week. It relieved his colic pain and was less dangerous than water compresses, but its drawback is that it stays warm for a relatively short time.
