I bought this after some quick middle of the night research while holding our 20 month toddler who kept waking herself up due to congestion. Couldn't be happier. The humidifier seemed to make a difference on the first night and helped breakup some of the congestion. We aren't planning to use any Vicks products with the humidifier (and the age for that use is over 8 years old, I believe, but please see the description for accurate info). We are only using it for the cool mist and are very happy. It's quite big, which means it holds a lot of water so you don't have to refill throughout the night, but I'd be a bit weary of buying this item if you're low on storage space.
